Dr. Leszczynski is Professor of Chemistry and Presidential Distinguished Fellow at Jackson State University, MS, USA where he also directs new CREST Interdisciplinary Center for Nanotoxicity.
He is a computational quantum chemist and his vast area of research interest includes: nature of chemical bonds, theoretical predictions of molecular potential energy surfaces and vibrational spectra, structures and properties of molecules with heavy elements, properties and structure of DNA fragments, and characteristics of nanomaterials. He also applies computational chemistry methods to environmental problems, surface chemistry and atmospheric chemistry. Two areas of his research are particularly noteworthy: investigations of DNA fragments and development of novel techniques for investigation of properties and toxicity of nanomaterials.
He has published about 750 peer reviewed research papers (Hirsh Index = 52), authored more than 60 book chapters and edited over 30 books. He is actively involved in numerous editorial and various scholarly activities. He is the editor of the major reference title “Handbook of Computational Chemistry”, of the journal “Structural Chemistry” and of the book series “Challenges and Advances in Computational Chemistry and Physics”, all published by Springer.
Dr. Shukla is currently working as a Research Physical Scientist at the Environmental Laboratory, US Army Engineer Research and Development Center, USA.
He has published over 65 peer reviewed research papers and over 10 book chapters. He has edited four books and is one of the co-editors of the major reference title “Handbook of Computational Chemistry”, all published by Springer.
His area of research interest includes theoretical modeling of energetic materials, photophysics and photochemistry of nucleic acids, proton transfer, nanomaterials and nanotoxicity. He is currently involved in the computational modeling of explosives interaction at different bulk surfaces.
