Dr. Sewa Siingh Sagwal having done B. Sc. (Hon) Agriculture (Soil Science) and M. Sc. (Forestry) in 1973 and 1978 from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur respectively, started his career as Assistant Research Officer and Associate Head of Department of Forestry of H. P. Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur (District Kangra), Himachal Pradesh. During August, 1985, he joined as Associate Professor-cum-Senior Scientist and Head of Agroforestry at S. K. University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Shalimar (Srinagar), Jammu and Kashmir State. He undertook on Advance Training for one year (August 1987 to July 1988) in Forest Nursery and Tree Cropsunder the auspicious programme of USAID. He worked at University of Idaho, Moscow, U. S. A. and Canada which impart forestry education. Dr. Sagwal has published more than 170 articles and 15 books on various aspects of forestry. He has attended / participated in a number of seminars / workshops / symposia / conferences / summer institutes at National / International level. He is a member of several professional societies. He is the winner of the award (1982) of Associated Journal Ltd. , Rafi Marg, New Delhi, outstanding Personalities Award (1998), and Great Indian Achievers Award (1999), MSPI, New Delhi. He has done his Ph. D. (Forestry) Degree from The International University of Contemporary Studies, Washington, D. C. (U. S. A. ). At present, Dr. Sagwal is worwkiing at S. K. University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Srinagar (J & K State), India.
