About the Book

The Book provides a scientific background needed for the identification of medicinal plants commonly occurring in India.

1. It explains scientific terms for description of plant parts.

4. More than 610 species of Indian Medicinal Plants, including those 365 mentioned in the CCIM approved University syllabus of Ayurvedic medicine are listed.
5. An exhaustive list of above plant species provides correct and up-to-date scientific name together with names in English, Sanskrit, Marathi and Hindi languages and plant parts used in medicine.
6. It also provides about 88 line drawings of plants parts and 125 coloured photographs for confirmation of identified plants.

About the Author

Dr. V.N. Naik (1971) retired from B.A.M. University, Aurangabad as a Reader in Botany in June, 1993. He has to his credit the publication of Twelve books on various aspects of plant sciences and published over 70 research papers in the national as well as international journals. One of his book Taxonomy of Angiosperms has earned the world reputation. More than ten students have been awarded Ph.D. degrees under his supervision. Dr. Naik has been responsible for building-up a herbarium in the University, which preserves more than 60 thousands specimens. He is chairman of Shaliwahan Ayurved Seva Pratishthan, Aurangabad and a consulting taxonomist of Ayurved Research Institute, Pune, Uttan Vanaushadhi Sanshodhan Sanstha (Keahav srushti) Bhaider, Mumabi, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Research Institute, Pune and other organizations.
